About Me

Hello! My name is Joy Schmidt, and I love baking and cooking! Over the last few years, and this last year in particular, I've grown to love making great food for my family and friends. I have learned so much the past few years from reading cook books, watching cooking lectures from the Culinary Institute of America, pushing myself and making new recipes, and by pursuing a culinary associates degree at Ivy Tech Community College.

I love food, but that's not my only passion! I am a Christian, and I strive to honor God in my day-to-day life. I love my family and friends, and I enjoy spending time with them. I'm quite the country girl, too, and I love all animals, cats and horses in particular. Another love of my mine is reading. I like to read classic literature (A Tale of Two Cities and Barnaby Rudge by Charles Dickens, Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte), modern teen fiction (The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer), history (Unbroken, Seabiscuit), and books that I call "spiritual" books (Joyfully at Home by Jasmine Bauchman and It's (Not That) Complicated by Anna Sofia and Elizabeth Botkin).

A few more quick facts about me are these: I love Panda Express and Taco Bell, Christian music artist TobyMac , classic Hollywood movies, the Celtic Woman station on Pandora, journaling, and candles! I also work at Meijer part-time.
